Greg received his Doctorate in Orchestral Conducting from Michigan State University. He also holds Master of Music Performance and Bachelor of Music Education
Degrees with honor from Michigan State University. Dr. Pritchard has
performed as a bassoonist and with several professional orchestras including
the Atlanta Symphony, Alabama Symphony, and Fort Wayne Philharmonic. He
performed with the Grand Rapids Symphony as a
bassoonist and saxophonist from 1990 to 1998, and in 1997 was appointed
the first Fellowship Conductor of the orchestra. He has held faculty positions
at the University of Evansville, Indiana Wesleyan
University, Taylor University, Hope College and the Konservatori Seni
Halus (Fine Arts Conservatory) in Penang, Malaysia. While in Malaysia,
he
performed as Principal Bassoonist with the Penang Symphony Orchestra
and was a featured concerto soloist during their National Mozart Festival.
Dr.
Pritchard has also held conducting positions with the Kokomo Symphony,
Holland Area Youth Orchestra, Music Festival of Arkansas Symphony, and
Southeastern Music Festival Orchestra. In 1990, as Assistant Conductor
of the Blue Lake International Youth Symphony Orchestra, he conducted
performances in Germany, Austria, Hungary, and France, and was selected
to perform for the Chancellor of Vienna. In 1997, Dr. Pritchard was named
"Exceptional Music Director" by the Lansing State Journal for his work
with the Riverwalk Theatre. He also serves as Director of Orchestras at
Georgia State University and Gwinnett County Youth Symphony, positions
he holds concurrently with his appointment at with the Opera Company of
Mid-Michigan.
